San Jose 2022 | NZD5 Niue | 2oz Fine Silver Coin
The fourth release in the Grand Shipwrecks in History series pays homage to the legendary San José galleon. Famously chronicled in Gabriel GarcÃa Márquez’s Love in the Time of Cholera, the ship is believed to hold a treasure valued at five hundred million pesos, making it perhaps the richest shipwreck ever lost at sea. This coin brings that maritime mystery to life through intricate digital printing and high-relief artistry.
Minted in Poland for Niue in 2022, this 2 oz .999 fine silver piece features a commanding 50mm diameter. The antique finish enhances the historical gravity of the vessel, while selective colorization adds depth to the vibrant imagery. With a strictly limited mintage of only 500 pieces, this coin is a rare blend of aesthetic beauty, historical narrative, and numismatic exclusivity.
