USS Constitution 2022 | RWF50 Rwanda | 1oz Fine Silver Coin
The sixth distinguished release in the Nautical Ounce series honors the USS Constitution, an iconic American warship and a permanent symbol of naval power. Struck by the Bavarian State Mint from 1 oz of .999 fine silver, this coin captures the vessel’s majesty with a reverse design featuring the ship under full sail alongside a stylized compass.
Launched in 1797, the USS Constitution—affectionately known as “Old Ironsides”—is the world’s oldest commissioned warship still afloat. It earned its legendary status during the War of 1812, famously withstanding British cannon fire that bounced harmlessly off its oak hull. Today, it rests in Boston as a living museum, serving as an enduring reminder of American maritime heritage.
