Niue (Archived)

The inaugural issue of the Grand Shipwrecks in History series commemorates the Whydah Gally—the only authenticated pirate shipwreck ever discovered. This coin brings to life the dramatic legend of “Black Sam” Bellamy and his ill-fated treasure ship, offering a tangible link to one of the most fascinating tales in maritime history.

Minted by Mint XXI for Niue in 2019, this exquisite piece is struck from 2 oz (62.2069g) of .999 fine silver. Featuring a substantial 50mm diameter and a sophisticated antique finish, the design captures the Whydah in intricate, high-relief detail. With a strictly limited mintage of only 500 pieces, this coin is a rare and prestigious acquisition for collectors who appreciate the fusion of historical narrative and master-grade numismatic artistry.
